We Need Showers Now

Students a TABC have been asking for years to have showers installed. The following explains why.

The bell rings. After davening mincha, you head to the gym. You wait two or three games at least to finally get in and play a game that lasts ten minutes at most. Obviously, the actual game is fun and exciting, but the sweat almost makes it not worth it.

After playing ball during Mincha, it’s always the same. The most you can do to clean is wash your face and attempt to dry your hair with a paper towel. This means you walk into your eleventh period class sweating like a dog on a summer day.

In class, you can only think about how gross you feel, leaving you with little interest in learning. . As class goes on the sweat on your collar becomes cold, bringing the your discomfort to a whole new level.

This issue is not limited to the mincha period. Whenever you want to play basketball during a free period or lunch, you have to contemplate the calculated risk of becoming a gross, sweaty mess, and decide if it’s worth it.

Students a TABC have been asking for years to have showers installed.

“We need showers so the rooms don’t smell of body odor and so seats don’t have sweat stains,” said Avi Proctor (2019). “They should have built showers when they built the new locker room.”

TABC did construction in the summer of 2014, building a new gym with new locker rooms amongst other additions. It would’ve made the most sense to add a locker room then.
